Parade Pics
By Peggy Schlichter
Not that I can ever claim to be any good with a camera but I tried to get some pics of the Good Egg Parade this morning. Not only did I forget to delete the old pics off until I was already trying to take pics but I even forgot to check the batteries before I left home. Needless to say I ended up with about 13 decent pictures so I thought I would throw them up. Click on the pic and after it comes up click on it again for the big pic. This is the first time I have tried to use the gallery function so let me know if it is worth it or not.

2:16 pm – i don’t know that i even have very many thoughts about the carnival. i looked around a little sat afternoon and didn’t see very many people. the thought i did have was that all the kids were over at the ball fields all day with no chance to enjoy it. why they don’t have the ball tournaments on a different weekend and let the kids enjoy good egg days baffles me. they are so tired after a full day of games that they go home after. they and their families miss out on almost the whole thing.
i was rather surprised that there were so few people at the park sat. afternoon. dad and i went down just after lunch and there probably wasn’t 150 people there. there were only about 8 booths with things to sell. and the funnel cake folks weren’t even there. i wonder why that was.

As I understand it, the funnel cake booth was underwater in the Des Moines flooding.

I for one like the soccer tournament going on. It gives me a chance to go see all the kids play at the same time. We always take a break and head up town to listen to the singing for Bill Reilly. We also get to see people we haven’t seen for awhile. My kids get to play soccer and enjoy Good Egg Days. Otherwise we would head home shortly after the parade and avoid it all together. Soccer keeps us up there.
