Eugene Skellenger Withdraws From City Council Race

For those of you who have not seen today’s Stuart Herald Eugene Skellenger has withdrawn his name from consideration for a city council seat due to unforeseen circumstances.

12:04 pm – while it is perfectly okay to still vote for gene you should know that his work schedule has changed and will not allow him to be available for council meetings. if he were to win a seat he would be forced to resign or be removed after he misses the 3d meeting. he has chosen to remove himself from the race to preclude this from happening.

I don’t care. Maybe things at work can change. Winters coming so maybe he won’t be gone so often. I just can not and will not vote for Cory or James (no offense to James – it’s just because I don’t know him). I refuse to vote for Mike and Saralee is out, which is fine since I don’t know her either. So, my vote will go to Gene and I have no idea who else.

If Tyler Coe gets elected, this town is going down the tubes. Remember what he did against the police? What will he do if he doesn’t get his way with the council? Not a good thing.

I don’t always agree with Tyler, but then again I don’t always agree with a lot of people. Tyler does go to ALL the meetings. He does do research and try to find out about things. He does have an interest in the town. I also notice he does have an attitude problem, but so do a lot of other people. It might be good to have his ideas and input on the council remembering that he is only one person. I can’t see anyone else I would vote for right now, and a year or two ago never thought I would consider voting for Tyler. But, that I am. By the way, we all need to clean out our own closets first.

What lawsuits are you talking about? Who and what type of lawsuit? I will check court system to see if I can find anything.

Peg I hope you post this.Tyler has not been attending council meetings because he is at college DRAKE that is a 20 minute drive. I thought I would just remind you that he is in college. And yes I AM VOTING Renslow and Coe. I was going to go Gene and Coe I thik they would have worked real well together they both get along with the council members. Unlike u peg

I’m sorry but I’m still voting for Gene & a lot of people I talk to are to. Things can change and if not, 3, 4, 5, or however many months of Gene is better than a year of Cory or Mike.

Doesn’t matter, it would still be public record and I cannot find anything. So it could still be in the works. After all I am sure that alot of documents would need to be collected and reviewed. It does not mean that it was thrown out.

There is no state law saying how many meetings a council member or mayor can miss before having to leave the council. The 3 meeting rule is a town thing only. Cities such as WDM have no rules regarding missed meetings and allow their council people to call in if they know they are going to miss a meeting. So, if this town wants Gene to be on the council, all the mayor/council has to do is change the 3 meeting rule and allow him to conference call in if he has to be gone for work.
This is the reason I am voting for Gene.

kind of hard to conference call when you are on the job. I am for Gene also, but hopefully his work hours will get back to normal come the next election. For now it would be a wasted vote as he will not accept it. This probably would mean the next most vote getter would get in or the council would appoint someone. Which would you rather have, your vote count, or an appointee. We all know how that goes.

Answer this: Just how often do people get away with unlawful things? How many people in office for YEARS are doing illegal things. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. Tyler Coe is not the person we want in the city’s business. If anyone DARES to cross him, they would expect to have all kinds of accusations thrown their way. We have to judge people by past performances. Let him prove that he is worthy of this job. He needs to go to school and grow up before handling matters that affect every person in this town.

4:45 – if you say anything about the cops you must look at what has happened. rayburn is gone, stout is gone, and lawsuits are not present. if tyler did anything he did it well. no litigation congrats!

Well let’s see… He’s gone to school (obviously since he’s still there) and has grown up. Guess he meets your criteria & you didn’t even know!
I suggest if you have a problem with him or aren’t sure how he’d handle things to call him, e-mail him, or leave a question on his blog. I did this last weekend and had a nice chat. It cleared up a lot of things for me and he was very polite and patient with my bombardment of questions.

for those of you who continue with the name calling i will continue to reject your comments.
if you have something to say about past performance of a candidate that you have first hand knowledge of that sheds light on their abilities without the name calling your comment will go up.
the point you wish to make is more convincing without the name calling.
i have edited some comments by deleting the name calling but am tired of the effort.
try doing your own editing before you submit your comment otherwise i will just delete the comment.
