Michael Renslow Announces Write-In Candidacy For City Council

Mr. Michael Renslow confirmed today that he is seeking a seat on the city council as a write-in candidate. His paid announcement is to be published in tomorrows Stuart Herald.
He wishes everyone to know that he is interested in seeing the town grow and is willing to look at problems facing the city with no preconceived agendas or bias.
His announcement increases the field of candidates to choose from to six.
Those wishing to vote for a write-in candidate must remember to fill in the box and spell the name correctly for the vote to count.

9:58 pm – the simple answer is that i had talked to mike a couple of weeks ago and knew for a fact that he was seriously considering running. I did not know for sure until today when i spoke with him again.
as for young mr. coe he is handling his own campaign.

Really? well he must be related to half the town because everyone I’ve talked to is excited. Also, Peg, I heard Saralee has pulled out of the race. Could you check that out and verify?

as for the rest of the comments please remember this is suppose to be a discussion about why or why not you think the candidates deserve to be elected for city council not attempts at character assassignation.

Good Luck Mike. You are one of the best choices we have. I’ll be voting for you and most of the people that I have talked to say that you’ll have their vote as well. As the field of candidates gets smaller, the more of a chance you have. I guess that Historically, most write-in candidates don’t win elections. Hopefully, that won’t hold true this time around!

Anony @ 6:00 am the people that I have talked with say NO WAY Renslow!! They think that he is Mick’s puppet. I never really thought about it but I think these people have a good point Mick won’t be on the council but I am sure he will be telling Mr. Renslow what to do and what not to do. Anyway James and Tyler have my vote

Who do you think can think will stand up for the community and not be intimidated by others on the council? Who do you think can work well with the others on the council? Who do you think will really work for the good of the city? Who do think will just go along with others on the council? Who do you think will watch our spending and question where it needs to be questioned?

You must be crazy to think that Mike doesn’t have a mind of his own! I have seen him and Mick dissagree on several different issues. They are friends, but they are different. You sould see them at the little kids wrestling program. They have very different from personalities. I believe that they are both intellegent, but Mike will listen to you and is quite a bit more mature. Even if he doesn’t agree with you, he will still respect you and your opinions. I believe that Mike is the best candidate running.

10:15 am – saying he is the worst candidate does not say why you think that. very few of you actually say why some one would be good or bad as a council member based on abilities. saying only that they are good or bad does nothing to convince anyone of your point of view.
is he a good listener? is he willing to meet and discuss issues with the public? is he a good thinker? is he good at problem solving? where does he stand on current issues?

I think that you should read the book by Dale Carnege “How to Win Friends and Influence People” because you are the pot calling the kettle black. You are being very negitive in your comments about Mike. You won’t say why you don’t think he would not be good. You just state your own opinions without any reasons. we don’t even know who you are. So I guess we can’t ask you why you don’t think Mike is POSSITIVE. I do think that he would be an excelent person to serve on the council. You can tell that he is very passionate about the things that he is involved. So if he has announced his candidacy for council, he will also be dedidcated to doing his best and what’s best for our community! I say talk to him if you have questions. I have. I liked his answers. I like MIKE for Council!!

mike said he doesnt support the ambulance crew we have now. thats why he isnt getting my vote. he supports the fire department but doesnt believe they are financially saavy. no vote to mike from me.

Just where the Heck are you getting your info? Mike does support the fire AND rescue. He has grown up around these people and the fire/rescue since he was born. He has family on both units. He has served on the FD ever since he was 16 years old. In Stuart our FD and Rescue sqauds are separate entities, but each department supports the other and works together as a well oiled machine! If you don’t like Mike, that’s your business but don’t say crap that could damage the relationship between the fire & rescue. We have very dedicated people that serve YOU, should you ever need emergency assistance. I’m sure that you would never hear such BS from Mike, he is one of the dedicated people that VOLUNTEERS and MIGHT HAVE TO RISK HIS LIFE TO PROTECT YOUR LIFE & PROPERTY! These people are special. They ask nothing from you. I think that a bit of respect and appreciation is not too much to give them. How about saying THANKS for the things they do when you see them around town. Please, just stop trying to ruin a GOOD thing. This is one thing that is possitive in our community and I might add, quite rare to have a rescue unit that offers a conditioal paramedic level of service and so many Nationally certified FF I, FF II, Instructors for a town the size of Stuart. And it’s an All volunteer service to boot.(except Kenny) and he’s is worth every dime!
There are communities much larger that do not offer what our departments do. So feel extremely fortunate. The response time is exceptional and above the required standards set. We are lucky. If you want to be a part of this Family, I’m sure that they would welcome you with open arms. The more the merrier.
