For those who want to talk about something do it here.

Unless inspiration strikes I’m not putting a new post up.

I have moved the police comments to this post.  The comments may not be in order because I copied and pasted them in as I flipped between pages.  The original post is inside of my heading but you can see the entire comment.

so…….all you do is listen to the scanner all night long every night? did you know that we have this great new technology called, get this, a cell phone. it can be used to communicate with other phones and not by radio waves. that means that you can talk on them and no one with a scanner can hear you. isn’t that amazing? just think if a police officer wanted to call the sheriff’s office to tell them that he was bringing a prisoner to them, he wouldn’t have to use the radio. that is soooo cool. nosy people, like you, wouldn’t even know they did anything, much less who was involved. unbelievable. what will they come up with next?

How RUDE can you get? I can remember back when I was a kid………..my father being a State Trooper, WE also had a scanner sitting on our kitchen table. It was NEVER turned off. The generation that still listens to those scanners today don’t need nor use (probably don’t want either) CELL PHONES! And are not as RUDE as you are! Unbelievable ….back at ya!

I doubt very seriously that if there was an incident at 2:00 in the morning that involved a traffic incident, three patrol cars and two people in handcuffs, that all communication would have been done by cell phone. Get real! It is too bad that people actually have to make up stuff in order to start an arguement.

they better not be using cell phones all the time.
However, I once called 911 and was told by dispatch to call the office, I had to point out to them that there was no one in the office a greater portion of the day as I had already tried that. They then had to call the officer on his cell phone, as the officer was not answering the radio. Did I complain? No. Should I have complained to somone within our city offices? Why, it appears they are going to do what they want to do anyway. So now, we just call DHS and cut out the middle guy.
At least with the old chief and staff, someone was in the office from 8-5 and off and on during the night. And the old department would answer the radio, before cell phones.
Then you can call the city to have something done and it doesn’t get done. I heard one lady sitting in the park call city hall about a issue. Yeah, I was listening in (don’t care for the lady much anyway), but her request still had not been completed. I should have told her to call Mr. Cook.

if you were told by dispatch to call the police department, complain to the sheriff, that dispatcher did not give you good customer service and you were treated poorly. your tax dollars are paying for that service and you are not receiving it. what day did and time did you try to locate your policeman? if you know that ask who was on duty. complain to your mayor. again do not tar all the police officers with the same brush. no there is not always someone in the pd, if there was, we would complain those officers were wasting your tax money sitting on their butts in the office. no one is ever happy. bet there are times when there are no state troopers at the post, us marshals in the office, or deputies in sheriff’s office. if you were berated and belittled all the time for the job you do by someone that has no idea what your job really is, how long would you stay at your place of employment? no wonder stuart has such a high turn over rate in their police department.

if you called dispatch and were told to call the police department, complain to your sheriff. you received terrible customer service and were treated badly. your tax dollars are paying for that service and you are not getting it. if you know what day and time you could not find an officer, ask who was on duty, then complain to the mayor. don’t crucify the lot for the sins of one. be an informed complainant. if some guy in a uniform were in the office all the time, we would complain that he was wasting our tax dollars sitting on his butt in the office. never happy…..civilians have no idea what law enforcement personelle does, if you don’t understand the job, how can you belittle and berate someone one for not doing it? who cares if they use cell phones for communication? why is it so important to know who got picked up when and why and where and by whom? i don’t understand. if you want to know if stuart police department took some one to jail on thursday night/early friday morning, call adair county sheriff’s office and ask. public information. don’t speculate, find out. get off these guys back and let them do their jobs!

my ears are begining to bleed over this police discussion. the daily log at the pd is public information. all you have to do is go in and ask to look at it. that is where the information comes from you see in a newspaper. if you get no results calling the pd and the county is not helpful call the mayor. she is the police departments direct and only supervisor. how else will she know there is a problem if you do not let her know.

now can we please give this a rest. it is a holiday weekend. go weekend. go do something fun.

i don’t think you are being fair to all of the police officers in this town. don’t tar all of them with the same brush. be specific, don’t generalize. for your information you have 3/4 of the police department you once had, not half. i would suggest that if you are not happy with the way the police department is being run, thank your local sheriff’s (roger baird and randy marchant), as they are the ones that helped the committee that selected the new chief. also i might suggest if you are watching all of these crimes happen, call 9-1-1 and summon a police officer so that they can deal with the problem when it is occuring.

Since it was 2:30 a.m., are you sure you were in Stuart? Could you read the side of the patrol cars clearly? You are surely mistaken, as I listen to the scanner all night and the only arrest made all week has been some poor slob on a moped last night.

My brother is a Police Officer and frankly the way that some of you talk about our Police Officers makes me sick. They are doing their job and if that affects you then so be it! Thought this might shed some insight for you people. This was written by Officer Mitchell Brown who was killed by a drunk driver 3 months after he wrote this….

Well, Mr. Citizen, I guess you’ve figured me out. I seem to fit neatly in the category where you placed me. I am stereotyped, characterized, standardized, classified, grouped, and always typical. Unfortunately, the reverse is not true.. I can never figure you out. From birth you teach your children that I’m the boogeyman and then you’re shocked when they identify with my traditional enemy, THE CRIMINAL. You accuse me of coddling juveniles until I catch your kid doing wrong. You take an hour for lunch and several coffee/cigarette breaks each day, but point me out as a loafer if you catch me having just one cup. You pride yourself on your polished manners, but think nothing of disrupting my meals with your troubles. You raise hell with the guy who cuts you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing and I’m picking on you. You know all the traffic laws, but you’ve never gotten a single ticket you deserved. You shout “FOUL!” if you see me driving too fast to an emergency call, but raise hell if I take more than ten seconds to respond to your call. You call it part of my job if someone strikes me, but it’s police brutality if I strike back. You would not think of telling your dentist how to pull a badly-decayed tooth, or your doctor how to take out your appendix, but are always willing to give me a few pointers on the law. You talk to me in a manner that would assure a bloody nose from anyone else, but expect me to take it without batting an eye. You cry “Something has got to be done about the crime!” but you can’t be bothered with getting involved. You have no use for me at all, but of course it’s O.K. if I change a flat for your wife, or deliver your child in the back seat of my radio car on the way to the hospital, or save your son’s life with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, or work many hours looking for your lost daughter. So, Mr. Citizen, you stand there on your soapbox and rant and rave about the way I do my job, calling me every name in the book, but never stopping to think that your property, your family, or maybe even your life depends on me or one of my buddies. Yes, Mr. Citizen, it’s me, the lousy cop!

    Heres another one for you….

I have been where you fear to go…
I have seen what you fear to see…
I have done what you fear to do…
All these things I’ve done for you.

I am the one you lean upon…
The one you CAST YOUR SCORN UPON…
The one you bring your troubles to…
All these people I’ve been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart…
The one you feel should have no heart…
The one you call the man in blue…
But I am human just like you.

And through the years I’ve come to see…
That I’m not what you ask of me…
So take this badge and take this gun…
Will you take it? Will anyone?

And when you watch a person die…
And hear a battered baby cry…
Then so you think that you can be
All those things you ask of me…?

So, what did everybody do this week-end? Did you go to the Guthrie County Fair? Some other celebration? Did anyone go to the State Fair this year? I saw Bill Geist from Sunday morning was there and had a piece on it this morning. Is anyone going to the Latino Festival at the Blank Zoo next weekend? Maybe you stayed home and got some things done. It is getting closer to fall and winter. The Halloween items are in the stores. Did you spend time with your family or with friends? Has anyone ordered Pizza from Stuarts Casey store? The place is really looking nice with all their remodeling and driveway work.
